The Strait Trilogy. Asta Lynge & Matilda Tjäder. December 14, 2023 - January 13, 2024
The Strait Trilogy by Asta Lynge & Matilda Tjäder - a Nordic Noir miniseries about a portal located somewhere between Denmark and Sweden.
The Strait Trilogy screens on the hour during the opening hours.
What was it with this place that had inspired myriad writers to journey through its darkness and shadows? Was it the landscape and latitude that invited projections beyond the horizon of the imaginable? The uncanny perfection of the “minimalist” design? Or was it perhaps the heart shaped mirror of the welfare state that at an honest glance fell from its thin nail onto the ground - shattering into pieces so sharp no one would walk away without a wound?
Asta Lynge and Matilda Tjäder have collaborated on The Strait series since 2020. Recent and forthcoming screenings include: Delfi (Malmö), BIZARRO (Copenhagen), Copenhagen Architecture Film Festival (Copenhagen), Celin (Oslo), Le Bourgeois (London), and Cittipunkt (Berlin).
Featuring: Jonas Bergen Rahmanzadeh, Mai Brostrøm, Sunjatha Conta, Samuel Hatchwell, Hans Frederik Jacobsen, Asta Lynge, Claus Lynge, Mood, Farhaan Mumtaz, Anna Paterson, Sara Sjölin, Louis Scherfig, Tora Schultz, Emilia Thorin, Matilda Tjäder, Beth von Undall.

Matilda Tjäder is an artist building fictional worlds via sound, performance, and moving image. In her work she develops experimental environments where the familiar interfaces with the unknown, the individual with the collective and memories with the absence of sentience. By plugging into existing infrastructures she takes great pleasure in revising their invisible protocols and designs via storytelling, ambient installations and absurd scenarios. She is a resident on independent radio station Retreat Radio with monthly show ”Scaling” and founder of the eponymous sound series taking place across various locations in Malmö.
Matilda Tjäder (SE, 1989) holds a MA in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London (2018).
